City Budget Analysis
For this assignment, you will select a city budget and then provide an analysis of this budget. Learning how to analyze an existing budget document will help prepare you for creating a budget of your own later in the course. You may choose which city\”s budget to analyze. City budgets are typically available on the city\”s Web site.

To complete this assignment, first download the budget for the city you selected. Then review the budget summary and details and develop a paper addressing the following:
1.What type of budget format is the city using? Use the formats discussed in the course to identify the budget format. Some city budgets may use more than one budget format. If the selected budget uses more than one format, identity the formats used and indicate which one is dominant.
2.What are the three primary sources of revenue? Cities may rely on a number of revenue sources. For this paper, identify the top three.
3.Prepare a revenue table based on the information gathered in question 2. Create a three-column table: one column for each source identified in question 2. Then include the following as the rows:
1.The source of revenue.
2.The amount of revenue derived from this source.
3.The percentage of total revenue derived from this source.
4.What are the three main expenditure categories for the city? Identify the three main categories based on the amount spent on each item. Common expenditure categories for many cities include public safety, parks and recreation, et cetera.
5.Prepare an expenditure table. Create a three-column table: one column for each expenditure identified in question 4. Include the following as the rows:
1.The object of expenditure.
2.The amount of money spent on that object.
3.The percentage of total expenditures spent on this object.
6.Is the city fiscally solvent? There are many indicators of fiscal solvency. However, at this point in the course, we are most concerned with the balance between revenues and expenditures. Is the city\”s budget balanced? If not, how much of a deficit is the city facing?
Please provide a cover page and a reference page that contains all sources used in the paper.
