1.Describe the process of database planning and design. (30 points)
Please focus on database planning and design in general and do not limit your discussion to the specifications provided in the narrative. Your description should not exceed 1000 words. Use in-text citation for the sources you have used.

2.Develop an Entity Definition Matrix of an Alumni database system based upon the case outlined in the narrative. (20 points)
Analyze the dialogue and provided Excel spreadsheets to identify the entities which should form a part of the database design. Make assumptions where necessary and state these assumptions explicitly.

3.Identify the cardinality of the relationships and represent it in the ER diagram.

4.Design a Data Model of the Alumni Management System, demonstrating the attributes, relationships, PKs and FKs. (20 points)

5.Optimize this data model to the third normal form (3NF). In this process of data normalization, clearly present the intermediate data models of 1NF and 2NF form along with the final data model in the 3NF form. If some aspects of model are purposefully de- normalized, then present arguments to support your decision.
