Also, by working for a non-profit healthcare organization, an individual can feel a sense of pride for not contributing to the outrageous and out of control medical costs that plague our country (Chilingerian & Sherman, 1987). It is true that non-profits traditionally pay their staff less, however, there is a sense of pride that comes with working for a company that values more than just a dollar amount. A company that cares about the environment, people or just has a larger purpose in general is one that anyone would want to work for. There is so much more that satisfies and sustains people that it is important to tap into that to ensure longevity and engaged employees.
