Describe the program and discuss how this would benefit Mr. Smith.

Part 3: Corrections John Smith has just been transferred to the department of corrections intake/reception center. He was advised by the classification officer that it would be difficult for him to obtain employment once he was released, and placing him into a reentry program could be beneficial for him. He was genuinely surprised by the classification officer’s statements and decided to take the advice of the intake officer. •Address the following in 400–600 words: ◦Assume you are the classification/intake officer. You want to ensure that Mr. Smith succeeds by creating a case plan that fits his needs. ◦Evaluate one prison program that is currently implemented in your state that you think could benefit Mr. Smith. Address the following;◾Describe the program and discuss how this would benefit Mr. Smith. ◾Be sure to discuss how he would benefit from each stage of the process. ◾Discuss all program components and evaluate the success.◾That includes evaluating recidivism statistics.

VA Medical Center

Veterans Administration Medical Center, Washington, DC In the  article we read this week, Atul Gawande described how excess care is provided – and excess costs incurred – in McAllen, Texas, compared with other places.   This article and the work of researchers at Mayo, Dartmouth, and elsewhere, resulted in many policymakers advocating for the elimination in variations in care and, importantly, variations in cost between geographic communities. 1.  2.

Homework 2

In this assignment, you will select one of the claims listed below. Using what you know about the topic, describe at least four claims that might commonly be made that display some of the errors in reasoning covered in this module\’s readings. You may have to do a bit of research to find popular positions on these topics. For example, if the claim is: Children should not be allowed to play violent video games. Then four common claims about the subject might be:And the errors they represent might be:Because Select one of these topics. Using what you know about the topic and additional research you conduct, describe at least four claims that might commonly be made that display some of the errors in reasoning covered in this module\’s readings.Write your 600-word response in the Microsoft Word document format.    PART I1. What does Stanley Milgram\’s \”Perils of Obedience\” have to tell us about efforts to standardize professional ethics? What does Milgram believe is the relationship between the obedience and individual morality? And how would Milgram evaluate Edward Snowden\’s decision to leak classified information about what he believed to be unconstitutional practices within the NSA?
2. Using MacIntyre\’s theoretical framework (that is, by reference to terms like \”internal goods,\” and \”external goods\”), explain why someone who loves the child depicted in MacIntyre\’s \”chess\” example might offer her some candy to play chess when she doesn\’t want to play? And why might one offer her twice as much candy if she plays well? Refer directly to the paragraph in \”The Nature of the Virtues\” where this is discussed, making sure to explain all its relevant aspects.3. Consider Seumas Miller\’s comments on Searle’s discussion of deontic powers:

How would Searle respond, do you think? Do you find anything objectionable in Miller\’s claims here? Explain clearly.

4. Should scientific institutions take account of social or political pressures in determining the best course of action in solving scientific problems? Can they avoid doing so? For instance, in discussing the medical community\’s desire for \”clean\” trials, Epstein writes that some treatment activists argued:          the defense of science put forward by mainstream researchers was an ideology designed to promote the kind of science they happened to do as the only kind that could be called science. (p. 423)

Is there merit in this charge?

5. According to Heinz Leugenbiehl, \”professional ethics cannot simply be the subject of abstract philosophical analysis. It needs to be looked at in the context of particular cultural domains.\” Explain why he believes this to be the case, using his case studies as the basis for your argument. And how, if at all, might this relate to MacIntyre\’s argument for the different definitions of virtue across the ages?
6.  On page 426 of Steven Epstein’s essay, in discussing Gieryn’s “boundary work” thesis he argues that the “recent reconfiguration of the boundaries (Gieryn 1983) between the “inside” and the “outside” of biomedicine has been the outcome of struggle.” Can the same be said for the “inside” and “outside” of engineering and its subfields?Your task here is to do an analysis of a moment of “struggle” over norms within engineering, and questions of relevant expertise. Examine the discourse around the official NIST investigation of the collapse WTC Building 7, and determine:

   1.    whether that investigation was conducted in a way that conformed to the norms of engineering-based investigations of this sort. Determine whether the investigation sought to, and did successfully, answer the relevant questions raised about the fate of the building, or whether legitimate questions remain; and

   2.    how organizations critical of the NIST narrative have fared in making a case for their own expertise as a basis for rejecting the official narrative (an example of such a group would be Architects & Engineers for 9/11 truth, www.ae911truth.org). In your view, is this an organization whose voice should be considered an expert one?Why or why not?

#1. The impact on the lives of woman had put a positive outlook during the time of the baby boom; it also had negative effects as well. With all of the babies being born, they had to keep up with baby products like food, clothing, toys, and baby items so production on these items had put the economy on top. On the negative side, a lot of people was getting worried because the population was growing dramatically, schools had to be built due to the overcrowding. These put a big strain on women and had to be mothers with big expectations of motherhood. Cooking and cleaning became the norm around the house and woman became housewives and staying home more often.#2. After World War II ended, there was an enormous amount of babies being born in the nation. A whopping \”4.3 billion births occurred, one every seven seconds\” (Shi and Tindall, 2015, pg. 978). This generation of children was known as the \”baby boom\” (Shi and Tindall, 2015, pg. 978). During the baby boom generation, women were treated very different from previous generations. Women were forced to give up their dreams and careers and focus on becoming a stay at home wife for their husbands and a mother for their children. Women who stayed at home also performed all the duties and chores in the home, some of which included, cooking and cleaning, doing laundry, and also raising and taking care of their children that she bear. Even though many women wanted to go out and work to make money for themselves, majority of them eventually had no choice and gave in, and instead stayed home and became housewives. Because back in those days, it was said that women belonged in the home rather than at work.
