FIN 534 – Homework Set #5

Use the following information for Questions 1 and 2:   Boehm Corporation has had stable earnings growth of 8% a year for the past 10 years and in 2013 Boehm paid dividends of $2.6 million on net income of $9.8 million. However, in 2014 earnings are expected to jump to $12.6 million, and Boehm plans to invest $7.3 million in a plant expansion. This one-time unusual earnings growth won’t be maintained, though, and after 2014 Boehm will return to its previous 8% earnings growth rate. Its target debt ratio is 35%. Calculate Boehm’s total dividends for 2014 under each of the following policies: 1. (a) Its 2014 dividend payment is set to force dividends to grow at the long-run growth rate in earnings. (b) It continues the 2013 dividend payout ratio. 2. (a) It uses a pure residual policy with all distributions in the form of dividends (35% of the $7.3 million investment is financed with debt). (b) It employs a regular-dividend-plus-extras policy, with the regular dividend being based on the long-run growth rate and the extra dividend being set according to the residual policy.Use the following information for Questions 3 and 4:   Schweser Satellites Inc. produces satellite earth stations that sell for $100,000 each. The firm’s fixed costs, F, are $2 million, 50 earth stations are produced and sold each year, profits total $500,000, and the firm’s assets (all equity financed) are $5 million. The firm estimates that it can change its production process, adding $4 million to investment and $500,000 to fixed operating costs. This change will (1) reduce variable costs per unit by $10,000 and (2) increase output by 20 units, but (3) the sales price on all units will have to be lowered to $95,000 to permit sales of the additional output. The firm has tax loss carryforwards that render its tax rate zero, its cost of equity is 16%, and it uses no debt. 3. What is the incremental profit? To get a rough idea of the project’s profitability, what is the project’s expected rate of return for the next year (defined as the incremental profit divided by the investment)? Should the firm make the investment? Why or why not? 4. Would the firm’s break-even point increase or decrease if it made the change?

Civic Engagement Reflection Paper

This is a course about doing 4 times of services in community center, 3 hours each time from 330 to 630pm. I played with children there, helped them with their homework, played basketball, played word games. Now I need a reflection paper on it, the rubric and requirements are attached. 650 words.

Compare the coverage of a news item in different ethnic newspapers.

Hi threre for this assingment I need 2 pages for each report, you can pick any 3 of them, and here are the instructues:Three 2-page field experience reports (submit on canvas) are due throughout course.  Each report should integrate at least one idea from our course readings (a different idea each time).  Be specific in referring to the idea and cite the pages where the information can be found in the text(s).  When you refer to the idea in the text, you need to define it (so that I know you know what it means, and then explain why the experience is an example of that.  Each report should be carefully proofread and demonstrate a high level of competence in written communication.  Choose your field experience from the following list and complete them in any order you choose.  You can only do each experience once, so for this course, you will need to complete three different activities. :  Compare the coverage of a news item in  different ethnic newspapers.  What, if anything, is different about the way the story is represented in the different sources? *newspapers can be in any language you can read. :  Interview someone from another culture who is living in the US.  You can ask such questions as:  What surprises did you encounter when you came here?  Do you feel you have adapted?**International Ss – interview someone from a culture other than your own.:  Visit an area of Salt Lake/utah that is a gathering place for people different from your own cultural group.  How do you feels as a “foreigner” there?  Do you speak the language? What differences in communication (verbal and nonverbal) do you observe? What other differences do you notice? :  Watch a foreign film (not made in the US or English-speaking Canada) and describe what you learned about another culture’s communication by watching the film.**International Ss – choose a film from a culture other than the US or your own. :  Read a piece of fiction from another culture.  What does it teach you about that cultures’ communication? :  Find someone on line from another culture and communicate with them via e-mail at least five times.  Can you tell the person is from another culture from their on-line communications? How?  (Please save each e-mail message and include a printed copy in your analysis.) *Be Responsible.

Discussion—Citizen Participation in Local GovernmentThe local level of the government is closest and most accessible to citizens. In addition, the local government affects us most often, whether it is through the provision of basic services (such as water, sewer, and waste disposal), road building and maintenance, crime prevention and response, or public schools for children. Ideally, local governance is an opportunity for face-to-face democratic governance. However, election results show that the fewest citizens participate in local elections, and survey research reveals that few people attend city council or school board meetings. In this context, discuss the following:

Briefly outline the major differences between the organized and disorganized offender.

UNIT 1

While on routine patrol for the Any Town Police Department you notice a group of what appears be three underage male teenage kids and one female teen standing alongside the outside wall of a local convenience store in a poorly lit area. Since it is 1 AM in the morning on a Thursday night, which is in violation of your city ordinance regarding curfew, you decide to investigate. When you turn into the driveway of the convenience store your patrol car headlights illuminate the group of three teens and you notice a cigarette in the hand of the lone female of the group and it appears to you that two of the males are holding beer cans. After asking for identification, you began your investigation and realize that several decisions will have to be made regarding the underage youth: *Deliverable lenght 3-4 pages*And reference page
