THE PETER GILL CASE
Respond to the following case using the problem-solving strategy.

As Vice President of Information Technology at Big Eastern Bank, you must write a memo following up on a telephone discussion regarding an ongoing personnel problem in one of your units.

For approximately six months, the manager of that unit, Tim Seitz, has been creating a paper trail documenting the poor work performance of employee Peter Gill. Seitz adopted this strategy at the advice of the Human Resources Department. The idea was to terminate Peter Gill\’s employment and to be able to justify the termination by creating a written record of his problems. Seitz initiated the final steps in the termination process last week. Today you received a call from Chris Jones in Human Resources informing you that employee Peter Gill is suing the Bank for wrongful termination.
