Employee benefits.

Employee benefits have become very important to many employees. When benefits are cut, employees can become disgruntled and feel cheated. Many employees do not realize or understand the difference between the benefits required and miscellaneous benefits. Identify and explain in detail those benefits that are mandated/required for employers to offer employees.

Trying Children as Adults Policy

Your next major speech will be a speech that is Persuasive in nature and will try to convince your class that a Policy should be implemented. This could be to eliminate a current law, to create a new law, to change a policy at work or school, etc. It can be local, state, national, or international. The outline format is attached.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Speech needs to be persuasive. 2. Speech should be between 6-8 minutes long. speak. 4. You must turn in a typed outline prior to delivering your speech. 5. You must use 4 published sources. They need to be reputable, published, and must be included on a works cited page, and MUST be orally cited in the speech as well.
MORE ON THE THESIS STATEMENT:
The thesis needs to capture for the audience in 1 sentence what it is yoiu are proposing as a policy. It needs to include the word \”should\” and have both must identify who can do it and what they will do. It also needs to be enforceable. What I mean by that is that it needs to be something that can be enforced and not something that is utopian or something that is a good idea but cannot be enforced.
Examples of good thesis Statements: 1. The US Federal Governement should declare the Death Penalty illegal. 2. The State of Kansas should end collection of all personal property taxes. 3. KCKCC should make physical fitness a class required for graduation.
Examples of bad thesis Statements: 1. Everyone should exercise. 2. The government needs to stop abortion. 3. Smoking is bad for you.
#1 is bad because you cannot enforce exercise unless you make it a policy somewhere. Just saying people should exercise wont make it happen. You could re-write it to say something similar to #3 in the good thesis statement list.
#2 is bad because it does not include the word \”should\”. It also does not specify what government (State, Federal, etc)

#3 is bad because while it contains a persuasive message, it does not provide a policy, does not say who should do what, and does not include the word \”should\”.
Hopefully these lists will help you in the rigth direction for writing your Thesis and your speech.
