excess) and that you are aiming high. The more you aim high the better your networking partners will be.

To answer the questions:

Why is networking important to job seekers? It is important because the broader your network the easier it is to find a job that suits and matches you. You could have references from others to go to certain places to seek jobs and even better, those individuals can give a positive comment about you.

With whom, where and when should you network? You should look for individuals who share your same ambitions and who also work in the same field as you. Where? Simply any place that is on a business type of setting. You should network anytime it is possible to do so, of course, only when you are in meetings that are only business related.

Who are the best kind of contact networks? There is no such thing as best kind of contact networks. It is all about exploring and networking with different individuals that you can finally say which is better and which is just going to delay you in your goals. You need to search through communication who is going to be the best individual to help you out and what individuals are going to be more beneficial for you to work with them.

What people should be in your network? The people who share your same field of work and have the ambitions as you to work in a project together.
What is the biggest mistake a job seeker can make with networking? Probably not having face to face communication and expecting that things will go fast without any delays and that everything is easy. Not being dressed properly and have a lack of education.

COLLAPSE
Hi class and Professor,

I think an important principle is Personal Integrity. A person should be trustworthy if he wants to network with other people. He should be having integrity, good reputation and virtues to be considered reliable enough to be networked with. Some people want to network other just for their help in getting some job or help. It is not a genuine networking. For this, we must think beyond immediate benefit and should put the effort in developing and building long lasting relationship. I created good network during my five years of volunteer service at my kids school as a PTA member. Community people respect me and I feel pride with that.
Networking is very important for job seekers especially in private sector because the right kind of reference with the employer might place a person with the dream job. Also, people might be in contact with some employer who is looking for a person with the same skillset as you. Your network might direct you in the right direction in getting the job.
We should network with the people having high influence in the industry, top leaders, and person with special skillsets and knowledge etc. We should try to network during trade fairs, company events, public talks of the top leaders, or some official party.
Best kinds of contact network are those who are long lasting and are made not only for job seeking. We should try to put extra efforts to build the relationship with the person even if he/she is not benefitting us directly.
We should try to network with industry leaders, highly influential leaders, people with special skill sets. These people not only help us get the job but also can be lifelong tutor or coach to us in improving ourselves professionally and personally.
Biggest mistake job seekers can make while networking is not putting proper efforts in relationship building but only trying to use the contact in getting the job. These kinds of people are easily identified by others as not genuine persons which hamper them in every way.
