Define Constitutionalism

Topic: Constitutionalism

Prompt: While absolutism seemed to manifest itself in17th century France, England was a different matter. Unlike France, England had a history (perhaps even a liberal history) of parliamentary cooperation between the nobles in the House of Lords and the land owning commoners in the House of Commons. This made for quite a political contrast.

What contributed to the rise of constitutionalism in England?

Why did this work in England and not in France? or the rest of central Europe?

Define Globalism

Topic: Globalism

Prompt: Another theme that we need to take a look at is globalism.

A simple definition of globalism is a policy that treats the entire world as a sphere of political influence, or policy on a global basis.

While globalism is often seen as a post WW II phenomenon, many historians see three waves of globalism.

The first began with Columbus (15th/16th/17th century), the second with the postbellum rise in industrial capitalism (the post American Civil War period from about 1870 to pre WW I), and the third beginning in 1945 (post WW II).

Which of the three had the most significant impact globally? Why?
