Write the thesis in the form of a problem. Based on this bill A00421, the problem/ thesis is that: Too many people are not reporting suspected child abuse to the proper authority.
Once you have the thesis, now you can research the topic. The body of the speech should address the following:
I. The causes or extent why people are not reporting suspected child abuse
-For causes: explain why and who are not reporting suspected child abuse
-For effect- list statistics of who are not reporting or of the number of unreported cases
II. The effects when people do not report the suspected child abuse
-list effects and provide at least 3 examples to support your effects
III. The solutions to get people to report suspected child abuse
-Long term solution- explain the bill A00421 and punishment -Short-term solutions- list and explain at least 2 additional solutions
Throughout the speech provide at least 3 references.
The Purpose:

Your presentation must have an effective introduction, body, and conclusion. Your introduction will have 5 statements:
I. An attention getter that captures the audiences interest;
II. A thesis statement that states the purpose of your presentation;
III. A reason to listen statement that states the importance of your topic to the audience;
IV. A credibility statement which shows that you are knowledgeable about the topic; and
V. A preview statement that states the 3 main points in the body.
The body should be well organized with 3 clear main points and a transition between the 1st main point and 2nd main point, and a transition between the 2nd main point and 3rd main point. You will use the problem-solution organizational pattern to address the causes/extent, effects, and solutions to your problem. You must have long term and short-term solutions and at least 3 examples of your effects.
Your conclusion will have 3 statements:
I. A summary statement that restates the 3 main points in the body; II. A reinforcement statement that reemphasizes your purpose; and III. A closing statement that ends the presentation with impact.
Always remember the rules when constructing and delivering your introduction and conclusion. During your presentation, state at least 5 credible references (author, title, and date) during your delivery. You will be penalized if you don\’t state them. Your references cannot be older than 3 years from the present. No more than 20% of your speech should be direct quotations.
Your Delivery:
While presenting, include eye contact with the audience, vocal variety, proper posture, natural gestures and energy. You will deliver the presentation extemporaneously on an assigned date.
