Historical Sociology – Handout Notes

The handout is to be designed to be useful as a summary. Generally, a means of communicating clearly for students to follow it. So, please make sections if possible. For example, the historical progression of historical sociology according to the literature, as well as a section for all the mentioned pieces of work in the literature along with their specific contribution. Perhaps include sociological vocabulary that might be novel for first time readers. This summary should follow the same order of paragraphs as in the literature.

Please write it in bullet points and include the page numbers from the literature within the summary, so as to follow the summary according to the literature\’s progression.

Some examples are included.

I am unsure of how many words are needed, however I have purchased 4 pages. Hopefully, that will be enough to cover all the literature, but if not please notify me. If four pages is not necessary, then also notify me.

Lack of examples. Samples were not properly followed. Proofreading drawbacks. Lack of analysis. Revision is recommended.

Many students will be looking towards employment in industry, becoming freelancers or carrying on with further study. Social networking is an important part of everyday communication therefore this unit will employ a component of social engagement. This project exploring social media and online branding

TASK INSTRUCTION

Explore social networking sites like Facebook, Deviant Art, Behance, Twitter, Tumblr etc. (try to consider all areas of design, photography, illustration and advertising), as well as blogs or website creators such as WordPress and Blogger. student should do 5 SWOTS of different sites .

Using a SWOT analysis template , student should write down Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats in relation to each media space. The number of dot points for each section will vary depending on the site. However, you should have at least 20 points per SWOT (5 per section). A mini concluding paragraph should follow each SWOT with an analysis of its relevance to designers and online branding. SWOTs should also include in-text references for any facts that need to be supported

In your research file, you will need to back up your SWOTs analysis with references. For example if you are claiming that Facebook has more users than MySpace you will need to find data to back this up. This is a research project, so dont just rely on your opinion.
