Consider what you have learned about making quality a part of the entire planning and implementation process. In particular, recall the approaches to quality improvement supported by Deming and Juran that were introduced in your reading.Compare and contrast the Deming and Juran approaches to quality improvement. Someone who appears in a work of literature is called a \”character,\” the same word we use to refer to those qualities of mind, spirit, and behavior that make one individual different from every other. The similarity of terms is not mere coincidence, for the creation of an imaginary character by author and reader is almost always based on some conception of human character and of individual differences.
Plays have a special relation with character because of the visual and concrete manner in which they portray people on stage. Plays must \”reveal \” character–that is. dramatize the kind of people they are by their own words and actions. Characters who appear on the stage or on the drama\’s page ultimately have to be credible in their own terms.

Topic 1: Whether or not the Constitution supported the institution of slavery was a very controversial issue in the years leading up to the Civil War. Even many who hated the institution (for a variety of reasons) werent necessarily sure that slavery was unconstitutional, per se. Interestingly, the Constitution never uses the words slaves or slavery at all, even though those gathered at the original Constitutional Convention hotly debated the issue. This was intentional. Your job is to read between the lines and decide whether or not you think the Constitution at the time of the Civil War mostly supported or opposed slavery. There is no slavery article of the Constitution, so you will have to think carefully about what you read in the other articles. It will take some detective work, though I think you will find plenty of evidence from a careful reading. You must use specific evidence from the Constitution to back up you argument. Keep in mind that those debating slavery and the Constitution before the Civil War ONLY have the Constitution through Amendment XII (12)! Do NOT draw on any part of the Constitution past Amendment XIII (12) for evidence!

Topic 2: Was Reconstruction a success, or a failure? You will evaluate this question from FOUR (4) perspectives: the Radical Republicans, Southern Democrats, former slaves, and your own opinion.
