The Burning Building, (Page 51) Assume you approach a burning building and hear voices come from both ends, each seeking help. Assume the fire is burning so rapidly, , that you have time only to go to one end of the building or the other end of the building. Initially you hear multiple voices at one end, and a sole voice on the other end. Which way do you go? Why? Now include some additional information; the sole voice at the end of the building is a close family member. Do you still choose to go to the end of the building with the multiple voices? If not, what has changed? What will be the different approach(s), if any and why?

Borderline Personality Disorder; does the language used by professionals affect the way that service users are perceived by mental health professionals and does this perception affect the care received by service users?

This dissertation is a discourse analysis of the language used by mental health practitioners when working with service users who have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (also known as emotionally unstable personality disorder), and whether the terms used (words such as manipulative and attention seeking) affect the care that they give to service users. I have already carried out a literature review for a previous assignment and have some references available from this. The dissertation needs to be from a social work perspective and as such needs to mention the BASW, the Professional Capabilities Framework and the HCPC coder of conduct. My lit review found that the language created a negative perception of service users which adversely affected care, but that this was less likely to happen with social workers than with other mental health professionals such as mental health nurses. Overall, social workers were much better at working with these individuals. I can email PDFs of the literature that I used for my lit review.
Please feel free to use your own headings and other research – this can include online blogs from service users if you would like to include some personal experiences but should be mostly academic. I can also provide a copy of the learning outcomes required.

ICD 10 PCS Code Building Guidelines

This week you will be writing a memo as the coding supervisor to your coding staff in regard to two of the Root Operation guidelines found under the Medical and Surgical guidelines in the front of your code book. These guidelines start with B3.1a and go through B3.16. Complete the following.  Be sure you look up all words you don\’t understand. You will be graded on clarity of instruction, thoroughness of instruction, and creativity in making the guidelines you chose easy for a new coder to follow.

Biostatistics Lab Report Paper

Two-part paper
Part 1: Using reports, assignments, class discussions, and provided materials (e.g., papers), discuss how biostatistics can be used to address public health problems, including how statistical arguments can be used to influence decisions (for example, practical versus statistical significance), whether correctly or incorrectly.

Part 2: Find an additional article or media excerpt that uses a statistical topic we have covered this semester. Write a brief critique, including both positive and negative aspects of the study or of the study summary. You may choose to address topics such as study design, bias and confounding, sample size, generalizability, proper or improper analytic methods (i.e., statistical tests), or proper or improper expression of results. Be sure to consider what you have written in Part 1 when composing your critique.

Project description
first change the introduction I don\’t want any source\’s on it
second the paragraph I high light I don\’t want any sources on it make sure you change it
this is the feed back I got from my proffsor \”What I meant by incorporating outside sources was how you properly integrates others\’ words and ideas into your text … this includes the use of signal phrases such as \”according to\” (among others), as well as the introduction of important information that increases your credibility as a writer, such as the source\’s full name, credentials, publication, and the work\’s title.
Furthermore, it also includes what we referred to in class as the \’quote sandwich\’ (setting up the context and introducing the source, fitting the quote into the sentence so that it is grammatical, and lastly, making sure to comment on the quote).

Crisis Communications: Natural Disasters

1. One of the strategies of the PR consultants in the first news story was getting Red Cross first-aid kits included in an episode of The Real World and Red Cross vehicles in an episode of The West Wing. The Red Cross received 60 percent of the $3.6 billion that Americans donated for hurricane relief. Millions of people saw these TV shows and the name of the American Red Cross. Was the money well spent? Should donor money be used on such efforts? What are the positives, and the negatives?

2. Hagen Daz has won numerous awards for its campaign, but, as of early 2010, there was still not a known cause for the disappearance of the honeybee. Are there other tactics Hagen Daz could take on to alleviate the crisis?
