Community-oriented policing (COPS), problem-oriented policing (POPs), and the zero-tolerance policing concepts are three criminal justice policy initiatives that were a major change from the traditional policing concepts of the 1970s. Marion and Oliver (2012) talk to each of these policies in Chapter 10 of .Select one of these three policy initiatives, and examine the positives and negatives of the approach. Determine the effects of the criminal justice policy on the other elements of the criminal justice community—courts, corrections, and juvenile justice. What is the current presidential or other elected official’s stance on these programs? How do these policing concepts fit with the era of homeland security? Are these programs in line with social justice concepts? Project description
For our final research paper, we had to write a term paper addressing four sections: Introduction: why was the research conducted? What have other researchers found? What are the key variables? What is/are the research question(s) and/or hypotheses?

Method: Who were the participants? What method(s) of sampling was/were used? What type of design was used? How were the key variables operationalized? What measurements and/or materials were used? How would you characterize the reliability and validity of the measurements/materials? What was the basic procedure? How would you characterize the internal and external validity?

Results: what were the main descriptive statistics? What inferential statistics were used? What did the main statistical analyses explore? What were the main patterns of significance? What effect sizes were reported? What do the results of the main analyses mean?? Did the statistical analyses address the research question(s) and/or hypotheses appropriately?

Discussion: what were the main findings of the study? Were the original research question(s) and/or hypotheses addressed? What do the results contribute to scientific knowledge? What is the practical usefulness of the results?

Intercultural Communication (700 words) Due date: 06-May-2016 Question 1.  Write a short piece of about 500 words on non verbal \”intercultural communication\”. The objective of this piece is to allow you to exhibit your knowledge and experience in this area across cultures by citing some examples from school, workplace or home and relating them to your readings. (500 words) Question 2.  Pick any online article related to intercultural communication. Briefly summarise the points of this article and relate the issues to your readings (literature). This week you will go out into your community to complete your assignment. You will either photograph or describe two architectural structures in your immediate locale, one communal dwelling and one individual dwelling.

Part A: For the photo option: Capture the images with a digital camera or your cell phone. Images must be clear, with the dwelling as the main visual element. Upload the pictures, then copy and paste them both into one Word document. Beneath the image, identify the city (or rural area) and state. (Example: Tampa, Florida, or rural Tampa, Florida). For the Description Option: Describe the general setting for two structures in 1-2 sentences. Example: I am viewing a two-story house in a newer south-side development in Tampa, Florida. Or, I am viewing a six-story apartment building in an historical east-side neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Part B: Beneath each image or description, identify it as either communal or individual. Then write a brief paragraph (3-4 sentences) which defines identifiable architectural and design elements. You must incorporate four terms for each description from the list below. At least two terms must be architectural. Bold the terms for easy identification.

TERMS: Faade, post and lintel, arch, column, capital, multi-inclined roof, adobe, symmetrical, asymmetrical, dominance, scale, proportion, simulated or actual texture, geometric shape, motif.

Note the following partial description as an example: Individual Dwelling. The structures facade displays a central arch, which is flanked by two columns on each side. The arch is the dominant architectural feature because of its central location. (Do not use this exact description.) For rural students, a communal example is not required. Do identify two examples: your own home, a neighboring house, out buildings, rural community center, etc.

The brief will have two parts: (a) A written analysis of a case. . The brief must be word-processed, times new roman, 12 point font. (b) An oral presentation and class discussion where classmates and your instructor ask questions.

In order to fully analyze the case, you will need to conduct outside research (e.g., statutes, common law cases, periodicals, treatises, etc.). Accordingly, you must cite all relevant sources and make clear the extent to which outside sources were used. Words or ideas that require citation include, but are not limited to, all hard copy or electronic publications. Full blown citations are not necessary, but must contain sufficient information to identify the source, the author(s) and the date. If youre using the text as a source it is okay to cite a page number.

 Tone is crucial to any piece of writing. It expresses the writers emotions while evoking emotions in the reader. The poem \”My Papa\’s Waltz\” is a short poem about domestic abuse inflicted on a child. No research is needed for this essay question.  REQUIREMENTS: This should be a five-paragraph essay using proper spelling, grammar and punctuation (no page requirement). NO RESEARCH IS NEEDED. Please remember that a five-paragraph essay consists of an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. There should be a well-defined thesis. Paragraphs should be 4-6 sentences on average. REMINDER: I recommend you use the \”poem decoder\” provided in the poetry section of the slides.
