The Purpose:

Your presentation must have an effective introduction, body, and conclusion. Your introduction will have 5 statements:

II. A thesis statement that states the purpose of your presentation;
III. A reason to listen statement that states the importance of your topic to the audience;
IV. A credibility statement which shows that you are knowledgeable about the topic; and
V. A preview statement that states the 3 main points in the body.
The body should be well organized with 3 clear main points and a transition between the 1st main point and 2nd main point, and a transition between the 2nd main point and 3rd main point. You will use the problem-solution organizational pattern to address the causes/extent, effects, and solutions to your problem. You must have long term and short-term solutions and at least 3 examples of your effects.
Your conclusion will have 3 statements:
I. A summary statement that restates the 3 main points in the body; II. A reinforcement statement that reemphasizes your purpose; and III. A closing statement that ends the presentation with impact.
