Week 4
COLLAPSE
According to the information in the articles, in order to have a succesful life you need to be smart and work on your public relations skills. If you ever want to grow in a company or have someone to count on if you may not make it one day are your coworkers. You need to keep up with them, try to be open without jeopardizing your privacy. Probably some gifts from time to time or a compliment might also work. Just try to avoid to get in to a relationship with anyone who works at your office. If one day you break up, you will have to deal with that person for a long time unless one of you quits the job or both get fired. (Tysiac, 2014)

If you ever get more involved with your coworkers, which usually happens even more if you go out with them sometimes to build relationships, try not to involve hot topics such as religion and politics because you can end up creating hate. (Matteson, 2013) Seems sad not to be able to tolerate each others opinion, but it is the reality. I once worked as a valet parking in Miami beach on Collins Avenue. So I met a lot of people from different nationalities, and I actually had to work out in order to understand their way of thinking and speaking so I could have a positive workplace experience. I began to talk to them, ask them about their families, how do they feel, if they got accustomed to America, etc. Sometimes we shared lunch, and thanks to that, one day they gave me the ride home when my car was getting repaired. In conclusion, you need to accept and understand that you have to deal with people. Whether you like it or not, you are not the only human being, and you need to have communication with others if you ever want to enjoy life.

COLLAPSE
Hello Professor and classmates,

I have been in my workplace for a period. During my interview, the manager talks about the coworkers which I find it very strange. But I listen. All I could say to myself is two side to a story. There must be a reason for whatever is happening in the work environment. During my interview and showing me around. They pointed out all the trouble makers. I shake my head. Then the supervisor said to me dont get yourself caught up between these girls. They will laugh with you. But talk about you behind your back. Right there I am assuming the coworkers had a lot to say about the manager and supervisor. Which they did. Nevertheless,

The one thing I always do at any workplace or even if I volunteer is keeping myself professional. If a situation with a less than pleasant co-worker come my way, the best piece of advice that I can offer is to keep personal details at a minimum. I will not divulge anything about myself after-hours life that they could potentially use against me. Also, I never want to respond from an emotional place in a work setting. There is a time I have seen not-nice co-worker insulted the next co-worker face to face, I just shake my head. But would recommend to the person taking a breath, clearing your head, and responding in a professional and calm manner. will be the best benefit in the long run, even though it may be difficult to do.

when replying to your classmates, your minimum word count is 50 words. You are also responsible to cite your references. In addition, please use Grammarly for grammatical and spelling errors. It is a free download.

Unit 1: Discussion
Actions for Unit 1: Discussion
Must post first.
In this Critical Thinking Enhanced course, discussion questions will give you the opportunity to actually do philosophy. You\’ll find that participating in the discussion will sometimes require you to go back and reread portions of the readings. In order to understand philosophy, you will need to read the material several times. The language and style will likely be very different from what you\’re used to (I still have to re-read some passages). Philosophy is often argumentative, but don\’t let that put you off; the challenge is to think about the readings and develop careful, thoughtful responses.
You must make your first post before you\’ll be able to see and respond to those of your classmates.
Discussion 1:
This activity will help you develop stronger essay-writing skills. It divides short essays into four components:

1. State your thesis.
(What do you want to say/prove? I will argue that)
2. Elaborate on your thesis.
(How else would you say what you want to say/prove? In other words, )
3. Give reasons for others to accept your thesis.
(Why should anyone believe you? Note: It is my opinion is not a sufficient or acceptable response in this context.)
4. State the implications of your thesis.
(What follows if you are right? If all this is correct, )

In this activity, you will practice by applying this structure to someone elses argument.
Read Bertrand Russell\’s article, \”Appearance and Reality\” found here: http://www.ditext.com/russell/rus1.html

Use the following template to explain Russells article in 200-400 words:

Russell argues that… (this is his overall conclusion)

In other words, … (rewrite the overall conclusion, elaborating or defining terms)

He thinks this is true because, … (use an example other than a table)

If Russell is right, this implies that… (in this section, explain what Russell probably thinks this means for our everyday lives).[For all discussions:
Be civil. Personal attacks will not be tolerated and can affect your grade. If you cannot respond with a cool-head, sleep on it before responding, or do not respond at all. Antagonistic or mean-spirited comments will be deleted.

Declaration of Independence Assignment

The Declaration of Independence can be found in the back of you text book. Read the Document and respond to it using the steps below. This is not a research projectyou dont need to go online. Everything you need to write this response can be found in the text book and in your head. If you find yourself cutting and pasting anything you are on the wrong path. If the plagiarism checker turns in a report on you it is an automatic zero.
This is a simple project, dont make me have a bad summer.
THINK! THINK HARD!! Make Me Proud!!!

Step One: READ the Declaration of Independence.

Step Two: After you READ the Declaration of Independence, you will remember the two dozen, or so, specific grievances (Which you just READ in READING the Declaration of Independence) that Thomas Jefferson brings against the King of England. Select from this list of grievances, which you READ, the three that you believe are the most grievous and why they are the worst grievances in the list, which you READ.

Step Three: From that same list, which you READ, select the three grievances you feel were the least grievous and explain why.

Step Four: Put yourself in their shoes. If you had read this (what am I talking about, of course you have READ this) back in 1776, would you have been ready to declare independence? Remember what that meansyou would be willing to take up arms and kill your own countrymen over the grievances listed in this document. Explain why or Why not.
