I am not sure if I was looking for the right things to support my topics but here are some rough notes on what I was working towards to including in the essay:

Is it easier to solve problems in life when there is a book or article on how to solve it? Most people who are working through a problem in life lean towards others to help them solve a problem. If a writer wants their words of wisdom to reach the audience, they would need to create a piece of work that would be easy for everyone to comprehend and appreciate. A writer needs to know who they are writing for, their work needs to have an appealing flow to and especially in non-fiction, the use of evidence and detail strengthens their arguments or opinions. Even though Scattered Minds and Hold on To Your Kids written by Dr. Gabor Mat, are about two different issues, the two novels show both similar and different styles of context, evidence & detail, and structure that work together to efficiently articulate his opinions to the audience.
Context is important because it identifies what kind of audience the writer is focusing on, what issues their work is about and if it is relevant to the intended audience. In both Scattered Minds and Hold on To Your Kids, it is clear that Mat is addressing his opinion to a mature audience. From Hold on to your kids, Mat asks Should parenting be this difficult?. The question is directed towards parents, whether they are future parents to be, parents with a five-year-old child or parents of a full-grown adult who are simply interested in knowing what modern parenting looks like. In Scattered minds, Mat reflects on a phrase that one hears from many an exasperated parent and teacher. Just as Mat does in Hold on to your kids he is leading his opinions towards parents. However, including the word teacher implies that Mats audience for this novel consists of not only parents of ADD children but also indicating the issue to teachers or perhaps any person who has an ADD child in their life. Mats use of not specifying which category of parents the question is directed to in Hold on to your kids, and not directing his opinions from Scattered Minds to only the parents of ADD children, benefits Mat because it assigns the issues to a wider range of people that can relate to them.

A major new study reveals that the cost of cancer drugs is unjustifiable. These drugs are important in saving lives and the study argues that such drugs must be made affordable to the patients who need them. The authors reveal that some families have gone bankrupt because of the extremely high costs of these drugs. Health experts argue that immunotherapy and work on identifying cancer genomes are not very helpful if patients cannot afford the cost of treatment.
