Rock History Documentary Abstract (Extra Credit – 10 points): Students may choose to write a short abstract of their thoughts and impressions of one Rock History Documentary from the Rock History DVD Library List (see final two pages of syllabus) or a streaming media service such as Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube. The DVDs are available for viewing in The WSU Music Listening Library (Kimbrough room 360). Streaming media options must be at least an hour long. Non-documentary movies that feature acted roles may not be submitted for extra credit. If youre unsure if a documentary is appropriate for this assignment, see your instructor. Abstract should be approx. 1 page in length, double-spaced. You must also provide a formal citation for the documentary you viewed. This project may be submitted for extra credit only once during the semester.

Select an offender who is currently on death row in the United States and whose crime(s) could be argued in terms of a positivist rationale. You may choose either a male or a female for the purposes of this assignment, as long as the individual was originally sentenced to execution in the jurisdiction in which they were convicted. Note, you may also select a case that has since been commuted to life without the possibility of parole (LWOP).

This first assignment should be a minimum of two (2) substantive content pages, exclusive of title page and references. You are welcome to provide a brief background on your selected offender\’s case however the majority of your paper should address and argue for a positivist theoretical approach to explain the offender\’s criminal behavior.

A good way to approach this assignment would be to place yourself in the role of the defense. How could you attempt to rationalize (or mitigate) the offender\’s criminal behavior?

This assignment is due no later than Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 at 11:59pm (PST). Please submit your assignment in a Word document prepared in accordance with APA formatting guidelines.
