musical analysis of a full-length commercial film

Your paper should be at least 5 double-spaced
pages in 12-point font pages with 1-inch margins. In this paper, you will demonstrate your understanding
of readings, lectures, and discussions up to this point in the term by correctly citing theories, socio-cultural
contexts, history, technological developments, and by applying terminology and concepts in your film
analysis paper. You will be present an argument, rather than a like-dislike critique. You will select a full length
(at least 60 minutes), English-language, commercial film with music and watch it. You may not
choose a film listed in the syllabus, but you may choose a film mentioned in the readings. The film
you select can be any genre. Consult Larry M. Timms Soul of Cinema (pp. 57-223) (Knight Library, call no.
MT95.T59 2003) for a selection of films.
You will create a Cue Sheet for the entire duration of the film, which will be in addition to the 4-5-page
paper. Consult Hearing the Movies by Buhler pp. 114-127 for examples (Knight Library, call no.
ML2075.B84 2010). Your paper should discuss the salient points of the film that you selected with respect
to music and action. Do not rehash every detail of the entire plot. A single paragraph explaining the plot
at the beginning of your paper is sufficient. You must situate your film historically relative to the sociocultural
issues current when it was conceived, and relative to the technological possibilities of the era.
Explain central people who figure into the production of the imagetrack and soundtrack. Superior papers
will cite judiciously from the readings and will footnote sources appropriately. For guidelines on grading,
please review my grading rubric. Put your cue sheet and essay in a single word document.

RESEARCH METHODLOGY

What Generation Y Wants
The fickle generation cares. Its just not about the things their parents used to care about.

GENERATION Y has been called many names since the eldest of the group entered the job market about a decade ago.

Their Generation X managers call them Generation Entitlement because they are not afraid of asking for help and speaking up when they feel short-changed. Their Baby Boomer bosses call them Generation Strawberry due to their easily bruised egos and apparent aversion to hardship and conflict.

Despite countless generalisations, the Generation Y is perhaps the most difficult to describe in broad strokes because they operate in extremes. They have short attention spans, but they can spend notoriously long hours on their pet project. They would willingly spend thousands of dollars on an item they really want, and skimp on the rest including their meals.

These dichotomies have had many marketers and employers searching for the elusive sweet spot for the young. It is rather difficult for the Gen X and Baby Boomers to understand the Gen Y, says Daryl Wong, a corporate trainer who works with employers and their Generation Y employees. That is why I always tell them that they are living in the Gen Ys world, not the other way around, he adds.

When it comes to what Generation Y wants from products, services and their jobs, Wong says two of the most important things are sincerity and honesty because the well-informed millennial can smell a phoney from a mile away.

They appreciate honesty, Wong says, adding that it is better for managers and manufacturers to own up to their mistakes instead of covering it up.

However, as a rather demanding lot, they also have a list of other characteristics they look for in work, life, and the things they use. The following, Wong reveals, are some of them.
Malaysian Business, 1st February 2013

About 55% of the companys employees are from the Baby Boomers Generation and they would be gradually retiring from services within the next 5 years. Furthermore, for the increase in production, the HR Department is having a challenging task to recruitment an additional of 15% workforce. Under which circumstances the HR department has to be targeting at the Gen Y for replacing and expansion of the human capital. (
