Using online or library research (and articles enclosed), explain the various view and data behind the salad blow versus melting pot analysis. What are the differences (compare Canada and the US using such research) between these two types of policies for incoming immigrants? How do these approaches encourage or discourage civic participation among immigrants and minorities in the US?
Next, read the New Migrants and Citizenship article (analyzing voting behavior of Naturalized Citizens). Afterwards, explain some of the transformative leadership and participatory strategies (information from Module 1, the discussions) that you would push to increase the engagement of migrants in the voting process.
