A comparative analysis: Offer an analysis that compares and contrasts these texts, discussing points of connection and overlap between the two, and explicating the ways in which they differ. In particular, Id like you to cover three particular points of comparison:
Arguments against assimilation and nationalism: Both thinkers target and critique these ideas (tied together in the metaphor of the melting pot), which were finding some support in America at the time. An evaluation: After completing your comparative analysis, discuss the relative merits of these two theories, considering the various advantages and/or problems you see with each view. If you find one theory more persuasive or compelling than the other, give your reasons why. If you find both problematic for various reasons, offer an argument defending that position. As always, support your evaluative position with your own careful, clear reasoning.
Again, please include clear introduction and conclusion paragraphs, the former including a thesis statement that sums up your comparative analysis and evaluation of the two texts.
