Current Event: Ethical Issues in Corrections

Each student will find an article that corresponds to each assigned topic, complete a summary of that article, and fulfill the critical thinking elements listed in the requirements below. The student will submit the typed synopsis for up to 10 points each.
Requirements for current event assignments:
Each student is required to complete a synopsis that is 2 pages of text (typed & double-spaced) involving a current event or relevant news item that corresponds to the assigned topic. All assignments should have 1 inch margins on all sides with 12-point font and must include the following:
o Student Information
Student\’s name, date, and topic
o Basic overview of the current event
Who, what, when, where, etc. (Approx. – 3/4 page)
o Potential future implications with regard to criminal justice policy and procedure
Why is this important? What are the potential effects? (Approx. 3/4 page)
o Potential research ideas that may address the issue(s)
How could we further study this issue? Possible Research? Possible solutions? (Approx. 3/4 page)
**Each synopsis must have the corresponding current event article attached for credit (NOT a link to the article)
Current events may take the form of newspaper articles, very brief journal articles, or other relevant news media.
**Current events may not be older than 3 months when submitted.
