What I want for my paper is to propose the creation of a new FLAGSHIP STORE in Shanghai for Tommy Hilfiger with the collaboration of the Chinese artist CAI GUO-QUIANG
As tommy Hilfiger has various flagship stores (all of them in Europe) opening a flagship store in Shanghai will make a big statement. The Asian market is growing steadily, hence we need to enlarge and expand that market sector. Furthermore, as fashion is getting closer to art (many brands have done their fashion shown in museums this year and also some brands have their own foundations) for this I would like to introduce tommy Hilfiger into the art world. I am thinking about collaboration with the artist CAI GUO-QUIANG creating the flagship store with CAI GUO-QUIANG art, i.e. the walls decorated with his explosives he previously did create the flagship store into an entire art work piece, as well as selling CAI GUO-QUIANG art-works exclusively for tommy and selling them ONLY at this new store. As art is all about emotions and fashion in a more about wearable and useful art gets a bit lost. ALSO the art market is very high at the Asian market. This will bring emotional feelings toward the customers, plus using a Chinese artist will also provoke a connection with Chinese culture.
