This paper should be a – Thematic Literature Review – not an essay nor a research paper. A thematic literature review, which gives a social, economic, political, historical context to the topic.
The historical, social, political, economic context presented should thus not be extensive, but reflect issues that you are approaching in your analysis.

a) Introduction to your literature review: Very short, it should present the topic(s) you wish to explore, and describe them very briefly. You should write one or two sentences explaining in which way they are relevant to the analysis.
The core of your literature review is a description of this context, and it is based on (and referring to) the debates that you have been reading. Take notes from your readings and build a coherent argument exploring this topic through different themes, just like you would do with any essay.
This argument should read like a narrative. You can definitely cite these debates, but remember, you are not doing a literal literature review: you are not listing the different readings and explaining what they focus on separately.

My research is on A 24 year old Female French (born) citizen that is a second generation North African immigrant. She is the daughter of a Moroccan mother and a Tunisian father whom immigrated to France for work and a better future.
The question of belonging is the most important point raised in this research, since the subject Identifies herself as \”French\” of other origins. She views herself as french firstly although she is still deeply rooted to her cultures of origins. Ex; Speaks both French and Arabic, Is a Muslim, connected to North African / Arab cultures and norms, Wears a Hijab but wears casual jeans and top.
In this literature review I\’d like to focus on the case of second generation immigrants in France (most prominently, Paris) – Their position in the community, Their view of France, what they identify as (nationality), struggles they face (political, racial, in public, work, and schools) – How the french community views them – Their positions within their community, their opportunities, and lifestyle.
