A. Reasons for Increased Economic Inequality/Suggestions for Reducing Inequality

Exchange your thoughts about the possible reasons for the increase in economic inequality in the U.S. over the last few decades. Which factors might have led the rich to get richer and the middle, working, and lower classes to struggle harder with incomes that have remained relatively flat? For one or two of the reasons you listed, make suggestions of how one could reduce economic inequality. Be explicit about how causes for the increase and ways to reduce inequality are linked to one another. As an example, if one of the reasons for the increased gap between the rich and the poor is that minimum wage has not kept up with inflation, then one way to reduce the gap would be to raise minimum wage. Make use of the required readings, integrating them clearly into your argument. Please also discuss which of the four concepts–prejudice, isolate discrimination, institutional discrimination, and ideology–are at work mostly in increasing or decreasing economic inequality.

My research is on A 24 year old Female French (born) citizen that is a second generation North African immigrant. She is the daughter of a Moroccan mother and a Tunisian father whom immigrated to France for work and a better future.

The question of belonging is the most important point raised in this research, since the subject Identifies herself as \”French\” of other origins. She views herself as french firstly although she is still deeply rooted to her cultures of origins. Ex; Speaks both French and Arabic, Is a Muslim, connected to North African / Arab cultures and norms, Wears a Hijab but wears casual jeans and top.

In this literature review I\’d like to focus on the case of second generation immigrants in France (most prominently, Paris) – Their position in the community, Their view of France, what they identify as (nationality), struggles they face (political, racial, in public, work, and schools) – How the french community views them – Their positions within their community, their opportunities, and lifestyle.
