Using two case examples from charities involved in the protection of wildlife, discuss and examine the following debate described in the statement by Minteer and Miller below.
The parks vs. people debate i.e., the dispute over whether conservation projects and policies should prioritize biodiversity and landscape protection or poverty alleviation and human livelihood improvement should be quite familiar to most conservation scientists and policy scholars today. Yet, it is clearly a more expansive debate than the argument over whether a particular conservation project should emphasize biodiversity protection or development: it is also a wider disagreement about the proper value and ethical foundations of biological conservation in the age of sustainability, as well as the wisdom and consequences of making complex trade-offs among rivalrous conservation goals in practice (Minteer & Miller, 2011).

VISUAL ANALYSIS PAPER

One of the more traditional assignments that students encounter in an introductory Art History class is to go to a museum to observe an object(s) and write a paper that details its stylistic features. Since the Art Museum has a very fine collection of Renaissance to Rococo paintings, select one painting from this time span to concentrate on.
Once having selected the painting from the Lowes collection, pay close attention to stylistic features (i.e., composition, color, use of light/shadow, perspective, figures, pose, gestures, et al). Describe the object and compare/contrast it to pieces we have studied in class, whether in the PowerPoint lectures or in the textbook. When selecting objects to compare the museum piece to, be discerning. That is, try to find objects that share more characteristics than not. The aim of this assignment is for students to develop an eye for style and to locate the subtle differences that distinguish one technique or tendency from another.

Organize the paper, which should be five to seven (5-7) pages in length, into an introductory paragraph, body, and conclusion. The introduction may include some general information (e.g., historical, economic, cultural) about the object’s specific time period, the technique utilized to create the object, etc. More importantly, the introduction should include a thesis statement about the object’s overall aesthetic. Then organize the body in a logical, analytic fashion, and conclude the paper with some remarks about the significance of the object — that is, how it fits into a larger Renaissance to Rococo art historical framework.
Remember, this is NOT a research paper; however, if you quote a source (e.g., a placard or web site from the museum), be sure to cite it.

RISK: FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION, PROBABILITIES, AND EXPECTED VALUE

Project description
Scenario: You are an entrepreneur that has several business investments in real estate, restaurants, and retail stores. You are looking for your next investment opportunity for you and your private equity investment company. You have found two possible alternatives to invest in that will payoff in the next 10 years. Here are the descriptions of the two options.

Option A: Real estate development. This is a risky opportunity with the possibility of a high payoff, but also with no payoff at all. You have reviewed all of the possible data for the outcomes in the next 10 years and these are your estimates of the Net Present Value of the cash flow and probabilities.

High NPV: $5 million, Pr = 0.5

Medium NPV: $2 million, Pr = 0.3

Low NPV: $0, Pr = 0.2

Option B: Retail franchise for Just Hats, a boutique type store selling fashion hats for men and women. This also is a risky opportunity but less so than option A. It has the potential for less risk of failure, but also a lower payoff. You have reviewed all of the possible data for the outcomes in the next 10 years and these are your estimates of the Net Present Value of the cash flow and probabilities.

High NPV: $3 million, Pr = 0.75

Medium NPV: $2 million, Pr = 0.15

Low NPV: $1 million, Pr = 0.1

Assignment

Develop an analysis of these two investments. Use expected value to determine which of these you should choose. Do your analysis in Excel.

Write a report to your private investment company and explain your analysis and your recommendation. Provide a rationale for your decision.

Upload both your written report and Excel file to the SLP 2 Dropbox.

BONUS: If these two options could be made to be equal, what would have to change in the payoffs in Option A to make it equal to Option B (not the investment amount)?

Write a paper, 4 pages (2-column format) in length, on a topic covered in our textbook.

Information Technology Management – Advancing Sustainable Profitable Business Growth. Task B (17 Marks): Write a paper, 4 pages (2-column format) in length, on a topic covered in our textbook. For thisassignment, you need to plan, research, and, use your initiative to express the knowledge you learnt inthis subject as well as your own independent thinking and reasoning. Possible topicsYour attention in this paper can be focused on any of the following topics covered in our text: · Information Management / IT Architecture.· Database, Data, Warehouse, and Data Mining.· Networks, Collaboration, and Sustainability.· CyberSecurity, Compliance, and Business Continuity.· E-Business & E-Commerce Models and Strategies.· Mobile Technologies and Commerce.· Social Media.· Enterprise Systems and Applications.· Performance Management Using Data Visualization, Mashups, and Mobile Intelligence. ApproachChoose a topic which you are interested in and/or which is related to your work. You should do this asearly as possible. Once you have chosen a topic, read our text carefully followed by detailed research.Once this is done, you should set up a structure/a series of subtopics and decide what to write undereach section (subtopic). Here is a suggested structure (you don’t have to follow it, but your own structure must be logical): Abstract: a condensed summary. If someone reads your abstract only, he/she should understand yourmain points. You may want to write this section last; Index terms: list the key words used in your paper; Introduction: introduce the topic you are going to write about. This section must be related to thetopics you learnt during the Session. However, you should branch out by carrying out your ownresearch to enhance this section; Subtopics and supporting argument: write a series of body paragraphs with sub-points;Conclusion: Many students get confused between the conclusion and the abstract. In the conclusion, you can reflect on how your topic relates to larger issues; evaluate the concepts you have presented;issue a call for action on the part of your audience; ask questions generated by your findings; makepredictions, recommend a solution or give a personal statement about the topic. With your structure in order, you have a skeleton for your paper: you can now begin by writing outyour analyses of the passages you have chosen. As you write and revise, you may have the need to addto your analyses or to re-order your chosen arguments. Using a structure as the skeleton for a paper inthis way can carry you more than halfway to a completed draft. Types of papersAcademic papers can be broadly categorized into 2 types:1. Argumentative Papers;2. Analytical Papers. For details, please see  Format and mechanicsYou must strictly follow the format provided in the following link, such as space, font, margin etc…

STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION & EVALUATION Current Event Blog 4

Project description
For this SLP submission you will be asked to submit your fourth blog entry about another important aspect of the strategic management process and to provide examples based on current events pulled from recent articles from reputable sources (such as a major national news source like the NY Times, Business Week, etc.).

Recall that the main article(s) for each of your blog entries must be no older than 4 months old. If you use an older article as your primary focal article, you will be asked to redo the assignment. You may, of course, use older sources to support your discussion but the article serving as the main focus of your paper must be recent.

This final blog entry will be related to your case assignment in that it will deal with Comcast. For this assignment consider the short news article related to Verizon by Albanesius (2014) and the Nakashima (2014) article that discusses a deal made between Disney and the Dish Network. The articles deal with plans to provide video content on mobile devices and on home televisions in an a la carte manner. As you know, Cable companies tend to bundle programming to cause customers to want to buy more premium packages to accommodate their home entertainment desires. The players in the industry have been avoiding the a la carte approach to programming in order to cause customers to pay more through the bundling strategy.

Your assignment will be to present to your blog reading audience an argument as to whether you believe that Comcast is strategically poised to compete with upcoming changes in the environment related to providing an a la carte approach to programming. What should large cable companies like Comcast be doing now so as not to go the way of Kodak?

Make sure you provide at least two very recent articles to support your key points (no older than 4 months old).

SLP Assignment Expectations
Your SLP assignment should be a minimum of 4-5 pages in length.

You are required to use APA formatting and you are required to cite and reference your sources. There should be a minimum of three reputable sources cited and referenced in your paper.

MARKET SELECTION AND FOREIGN ENTRY-MODE MOD 4 Case

Project description
Background:
Salih, A., & Doll, Y. (2013). A middle management perspective on strategy implementation. International Journal of Business and Management, 8(22), 32-39.

Markiewicz, P. (2011). Change management in the strategy implementation process. Intelektine Ekonomika, (2)

Aldehayyat, J. S., & Anchor, J. R. (2010). Strategic planning implementation and creation of value in the firm. Strategic Change, 19(3/4), 163-176.

Please note that this assignment is unique in that your written communication skills will be assessed. This assignment also includes a specialized rubric focused specifically on written communication.

After reviewing the book section, presentation materials, and additional readings you will be asked to compose an argumentative essay where you will argue for or against the thesis identified below regarding the implementation process of a strategic management plan. Here is the thesis statement you are expected to support or refute using well-reasoned arguments:

The successful implementation of the strategic management plan in a large corporation like Dish is highly reliant on measurement and evaluation efforts during and after the implementation phase.

In responding to this assignment you should continue your review of the information available on Dish. Identifying strategies over the past couple of years that did not work out so well versus strategies that succeeded might be helpful in supporting key arguments. Some questions to ask yourself in formulating your arguments might include: What barriers might have gotten in the way of any less successful strategies? And what type of strategic evaluation efforts do you think are necessary to keep an eye on progress in a large company like Dish? How does measurement of implementation processes help assure success? How does the evaluation process help to assure future success?

In this assignment, make sure you clearly identify the position you are taking with respect to the thesis. Your essay should include an introduction, and well developed arguments in support of your position. You should wrap up your essay with a conclusion.

Assignment Expectations
Your case assignment should be a minimum of 5 pages in length.

You are required to use APA formatting and you are required to cite and reference your sources. There should be a minimum of three reputable sources cited and referenced in your paper but more is preferred.

week 3 dq

Project description
Use the following Case Scenario, Subjective Data, and Objective Data to answer the Critical Thinking Questions.

Case Scenario

Mrs. J. is a 63-year-old woman who has a history of hypertension, chronic heart failure, and sleep apnea. She has been smoking two packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years and has refused to quit. Three days ago, she had an onset of flu with fever, pharyngitis, and malaise. She has not taken her antihypertensive medications or her medications to control her heart failure for 4 days. Today, she has been admitted to the hospital ICU with acute decompensated heart failure.

Subjective Data

Is very anxious and asks whether she is going to die.
Denies pain but says she feels like she cannot get enough air.
Says her heart feels like it is “running away.”
Reports that she is so exhausted she cannot eat or drink by herself.
Objective Data

Height 175 cm; Weight 95.5 kg
Vital signs: T 37.6 C, HR 118 and irregular, RR 34, BP 90/58
Cardiovascular: Distant S1, S2, S3, S4 present; PMI at sixth ICS and faint; all peripheral pulses are 1+; bilateral jugular vein distention; initial cardiac monitoring indicates a ventricular rate of 132 and atrial fibrillation
Respiratory: Pulmonary crackles; decreased breath sounds right lower lobe; coughing frothy blood-tinged sputum; SpO2 82%
Gastrointestinal: BS present: hepatomegaly 4 cm below costal margin
Critical Thinking Questions

What nursing interventions are appropriate for Mrs. J. at the time of her admission? Drug therapy is started for Mrs. J. to control her symptoms. What is the rationale for the administration of each of the following medications?

IV furosemide (Lasix)
Enalapril (Vasotec)
Metoprolol (Lopressor)
IV morphine sulphate (Morphine)
Describe four cardiovascular conditions that may lead to heart failure and what can be done in the form of medical/nursing interventions to prevent the development of heart failure in each condition.

Taking into consideration the fact that most mature adults take at least six prescription medications, discuss four nursing interventions that can help prevent problems caused by multiple drug interactions in older patients. Provide rationale for each of the interventions you recommend.
