Formal Writing Assignment 3

Focus on Poetry

Overview

In our study of poetry, we have discussed several key poetic elements such as rhythm, sounds and song. Formal Writing Assignment 3 is a critical thinking and information literacy project that will require you to make deeper connections between poetry and music.

Requirements

Access Online Sources:

To begin, pick a song that you like. The song you pick should be chosen on the merits of its lyrics rather than its beat or musical accompaniment. The song, which must be in English, may contain a moderate amount of graphic language, and, if you choose, it may deal with controversial themes.

Locate the reliable lyrics to your song from an online source. A copy of the song lyrics must be attached to the assignment link. If your song has been covered by many different artists, please identify which version you are discussing in your paper, and make sure that the lyrics you attach correspond accordingly.

Analyze (at least 400 words):

Once you have picked your song, you are to analyze it as a piece of poetry in a well-organized essay of at least four paragraphs. As the analysis depends on it, your paper should also include some quotations from the song. Because you will be quoting text from the chosen song, you will also need to include a Works Cited page. Examine the song through the scope of some of the following poetic elements:

Persona
Voice (Irony, Tone)
Diction
Allusion
Imagery
Rhythm
Sound (Rime, Alliteration/Assonance, etc.)
Symbols
Figures of speech
Denotation/connotation
Type of poetry (i.e., lyric, narrative, etc.)

Things to Remember

All papers for this class should adhere to MLA format. A Works Cited page is required.
Do not forget to give your paper a title.
Do not include a cover sheet. At the top of the first page simply write a header consisting of your name, the date and our course and section names.
Do not forget to attach the song lyrics.

The final exam is due NO LATER THAN 5:59 PM EST ON WEDNESDAY, 4 May. Do not be late as the folder closes at 6 pm EST. It will be available on 2 May.

Remember, you must submit to BOTH MY E-MAIL ADDRESS and the assignment folder.

Read the instructions on the attached document.

FINAL EXAM TECHNOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATIONS

The final assessment is this take-home essay exam. The exam will consist of three short-essay questions on giant themes throughout this course, covering the material you have read and our discussions. As a take-home exam, the final exam grading rubric is very similar to the essay grading rubric.

Please answer all three questions below. Submit this exam via the ASSIGNMENT FOLDER and to MY E-MAIL (emily.lipira@faculty.umuc.edu) no later than 5:59 PM EST (USA), Wednesday, 4 May. It will become available to you on Monday, 2 May. Please submit with a Word document attachment, so no PDFs. You will notice I used parts of three of the discussion topics for the exam questions. Do not simply use your discussion-board responses as this assessment is a final exam, and therefore graded more strictly. Reword and analyze more to think about the topic anew.

Answer ALL THREE short essay questions and address all parts of the question. 100 total points.

SHORT ESSAY: The Printing Press has been described as one of the greatest revolutions in communication and knowledge expansion, alongside the development of languages and the personal computer. It led to the expansion of knowledge exponentially in many ways. In what ways did the emergence of the printing press change the world in the fifteen through seventeenth centuries? Remember, most lower-class people still did not become literate until far after this era. Give two reasons and analyze. Do not simply quote from our readings, discussions, or anywhere else. So write your answer in your own words and analyze thoughtfully what it means. 3-4 full paragraphs (minimum of 5 full sentences per paragraph). 33 points.

SHORT ESSAY: In what ways did the two Industrial Revolutions show both the advantages of the scientific-technical successes on the populations of the world? What groups benefitted and which endured greater hardships and specifically why? Do not simply quote from the readings, discussions, or anywhere else. So write your answer in your own words and analyze thoughtfully what it means. 3-4 full paragraphs (minimum of 5 full sentences per paragraph). 33 points.

SHORT ESSAY: The development of the computer has engaged a crucial part of the communication-information revolution of recent history. The development of the Internet and related technologies in addition to new forms of transportation have engendered a communication and transportation revolution unlike any in human’s history previously. In what ways have such innovations and related developments affected the entire world both benefically and problematically?

Best of luck

my essay :

The Chris Wellers article This Swedish preschool doesn’t use the words ‘he’ or ‘she’ and the embedded movie reflects a society that tries to create uniform gender society (Weller, 2015). However, the approach seems to be means and sidelined. Gender identity is very vital for any societal growth. In other words, gender uniformity can be achieved even without assigning gender roles or gender identities. Despite denying children the knowledge of their different gender, apparently they naturally know who they are (Weller, 2015). Thus, it would be prudent that they are told about their real sexually at their early stages of lives than leaving the task to dawn on them at their prime ages.Additionally, the article depicts that this newly evolving society relates gender violence or discrimination to gender identity. These two elements of societal characteristics are different (Weller, 2015). People may know their gender without being violent while others may still not are aware of their sex but are still the most violent people the world has never seen. Nonetheless, advocating for the perfect cohesion of different genders from tender ages is vital, but it should not be done by hiding the gender reality from children. That is, children can be allowed to play together and identify their different area of interest from their tender ages without predefinition of these roles. Additionally, from the video, it is apparent that the young children are limited to playing kits as a way of making them explore the few available ones as means of gender cohesiveness (Weller, 2015). This approach is a pure lie in that restricts children to their extent of exploration reduces their creativity. Therefore, this approach of cohesiveness should be revised since it seems to have many loops.

RE: Swedens Approach to Gender Equality
COLLAPSE
I think you may have read something into the article that isn’t there. I think this school is trying to create exactly the opposite of the “uniform gender society” you refer to. Their goal is to let every child be exactly who they want to be, and not push them toward any pre-conceived gender role. Won’t this result in a wider variety of personal expression, and not a uniform set of kids that all look the same?

This assignment entails development of a comprehensive strategic marketing plan for a new product or service that is ready to “go to market”. A Project Template is provided that allows you to organize your work in increments and see how the sections come together to produce a comprehensive plan. This assignment requires application of concepts learned to build a strategic marketing plan for a new product or service that is ready to “go to market”. You will not be allowed to mimic plans or ideas from larger or already “in-place” campaigns. You must develop the business concept in its entirety.Create a Mission Statement. State your short-term MARKETING objectives (one year). Assume that the product/service is ready to launch at the beginning of the year (planning and testing have been completed).Identify your target market. Provide a specific demographic profile and rationale for this decision. Another source that may help you: The US Census Bureau’s American Fact Finder. Consider the size of the market and its purchasing power. Research is required to back-up your selection and to provide statistics to show that it is a viable market.Analyze your competition. Who are they? Who are the biggest players? How large is the market? What are the trends/forecasts in the industry? How does your product/service fit in? Hoover’s Pro in the Library is a good tool for this section; it may be accessed under Find Web Resources.Provide a brief overview of the product or service.Discuss your Core Strategy and make sure to connect it to your Mission & Objectives. Include a discussion on Product/Service Positioning. The Marketing Mix is the set of decisions about communications and promotion, price, channels of distribution, and customer relationship management. An integrated marketing communications (IMC) approach delivers a clear and consistent message to your consumers and is connected to your Core Strategy.Discuss what pricing objectives you would consider for your product/service. The Objectives should be based on the various theories presented in marketing literature and take in to account competitor pricing. Including background on value proposition, positioning, and target market is necessary. All of these components provide rationale for the chosen pricing scheme.Channels of Distribution: Specify the type of distribution channel you will use and include rationale.Customer Relationship Management -Detail how you will incorporate CRM into your plan. Be sure to include a discussion on the role of technology that will be used to support your CRM.The assignment requires the use of ARTICLES from the library’s full-text databases. Articles are found in periodicals. These are not to be confused with eBooks or Reference Books. The most popular databases in marketing are: ABI Inform Global, Academic Search Premier, and Business Source Premier.Your report MUST include a reference list. All research should be cited in the body of the paper. In-text citations and corresponding references should be included in your paper.

1.  Using the following link (and related links on the same web site) or another source of your choice, read through the entire Bill of Rights (), and choose  of any of the first 10 Amendments (the Bill of Rights) to be your topic (preferably one you’re interested in).  To reiterate:  do NOT choose an entire Amendment, since this will be too much for a 5-page paper;  limit your essay to the specific part of whichever Amendment you select and/or to which your court case (see below) relates. 2.  Locate/research ONE  court case (i.e., adjudicated in some way ) relating to how someone or a group of people were denied their rights under your topic amendment.  This court case can be a lawsuit filed but not yet settled, one that went to court and failed, or a successful challenge to a previous interpretation of the amendment/portion in question.  You may  refer to previous/older cases as precedents, but  focus on the specifics of your recent case.  3.    contact Dr. Baxter (either via e-mail or in class/office hours) to  that your selected court case fits the parameters of the assignment.  To explain why I ask this:  a few years ago, a student turned in a paper about an employee fired for posting e-mails critical of his boss — a potential violation of his right to free expression — but the case was , so for an otherwise well-written paper, he received a D. 4.  In your paper text (body/main part of the essay), analyze  sides of the case — you’re welcome to show indicate your preference/opinion, but reviewing both sides demonstrates your academic professionalism and intellectual integrity.  In your essay’s conclusion, describe why you value your topic/amendment, and how it is relevant to modern American society & culture, using the example you researched.  Assume the reader knows what the Bill of Rights is (i.e., do  waste space discussing all the other amendments in the Bill of Rights), and focus on your chosen amendment or the specific relevant part (for example, you don’t have to find examples for every part of, say, the First Amendment, if you’ve chosen freedom of the press — just focus on the freedom of the press and give a court-case illustration of it). 5.  You  include  at the end of each sentence or paragraph where you cite and/or quote specific words, concepts or statistics, in CMS format () for both footnotes/endnotes (your choice) and your separate-page bibliography.  This is a formal academic paper, so do not use non-credible sources (like BillyBobBlog.com, etc.)! 6.  Since the Constitution and Bill of Rights are public-domain documents, you do NOT need to cite the text of any Amendment or of the Constitution itself.

In this lab, you will discover and analyze one of two different real network attacks. This will give you insight into the motivation, vulnerabilities, threats, and countermeasures associated with your selected network attack. There are two categories of network attacks you will be concerned with this week. The first is a network denial of service (DoS) attack, and the second is a targeted attack on a network device connected to the network. You will also discover the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack and you may use that one as well. The key difference between a DoS and a DDoS attack is that the DDoS attack is launched towards the target from numerous source locations. A botnet attack is an example of a DDoS attack. Your goal is to select a specific instance of one type of attack and provide a managerial-style awareness document. Assume that you are delivering your analysis to business or government managers who have a general understanding of network communications. The reason for the choice of two different attacks is to allow you to select a broad or narrow focus for your work. This will also give you a high probability of discovering a very current attack. In general, the network denial of service attack may significantly diminish the network’s ability to properly communicate. The result will be a loss of service, such as the inability to access a website’s home page. The DoS attacks have ranged from a large global footprint to a specific target network endpoint. For example, the SQL slammer worm was a global DoS attack, lasting for days and requiring server modifications. In contrast, selected websites were shut down by hacker groups, such as the hacktivist collective Anonymous, requiring support from the ISPs and firewall vendors. The targeted attack on a network device can result in a DoS as well, but it uses the current network to deliver the destructive payload to the target system. For example, a SQL injection attack’s target is the database server, with the Internet and the corporate network actually delivering the destructive payload to the target. Furthermore, this type of attack may leave the network functional because it uses it to propagate to other devices or uses the victim’s network to launch other attacks.
