First long paper of “Writing In Comparative Literature”

Project description
First Long Paper

Due Date: 6 May 2016

Due Date of Revision: 13 May 2016

Your first long paper will be comparative in nature. You are to write a 5-6 page critical analysis of two texts. One of these texts must be either Heart of Darkness or Light in August; the second text must be an outside text, one that we have not read or discussed in class. Text in this case has a broad range, meaning you can choose a visual (film, painting, photography, architecture, etc.) or a written (novel, short story, essay, etc.) text. Your task is to focus on connections such as themes, motifs, narrative patters, etc. in these two texts. In essence, you will be creating a conversation between two texts by analyzing their similarities and their points of divergence.

In your paper, remember to address how the texts compliment each other as well as how they contradict and modify each other.

As always, your paper should include a clear claim from which a focused and logical analysis follows. Refrain from summarizing the texts. A summary is the what of the text; an analysis is the how and the why. Remember to provide textual evidence that supports your analysis; consider how parts of a text are presented and explain the significance of smaller components to the whole.

Refer to Ramblings in Support of Writing, which is on Canvas. My notes include guidelines that should be met in order to satisfy this prompt.

In addition to submitting your paper electronically, bring in one hardcopy of your paper to class on Monday May 9th for peer review.

Paper Format Guidelines

All papers should follow the MLA style. If you are not familiar with MLA style, this website is a very useful guide: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ (Links to an external site.)

All papers should use 1-inch margins and a size 12 Times New Roman font. Please include your last name and page number on each page either in a header or footer. There is no need for a cover page but the upper left corner of the first page of each paper should include:

Your Name

Instructors Name (Yasi Naraghi)

Course (C Lit 240A)

Assignment Due Date

Title of Assignment (Example: First Short Paper or Revised Draft.)

Each paper requires a title. It should be centered and there is no need to underline, boldface, or italicize it.

Program Proposal

Project description
PROGRAM PROPOSAL PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

Imagine you have been asked to prepare and present a proposal to a group of elders in a church (or trustees in an organization) on meeting the needs of military veterans in our community. You have demonstrated your knowledge and passion to minister to men and women in your community who have served our armed forces and are now trying to reintegrate back into family, society, church, and transition into new careers. It is your desire to conduct a weekly small group in your church (community) that will help meet some of the needs you know that these veterans have.

Your proposal will consist of the various bullet points below and will explain how the program will be conducted. You are presenting How-to documents explaining each session that you will conduct with the needed materials you will utilize.

Proposal
Your first paragraph or 2 will be a brief justification for this program. Make an argument for this needed group based upon some of the current research for these needed services. This section is not a long section but a brief argument that you might make as you ready yourself to explain the program in detail.
Who is your population for the program? What veterans would benefit from this program?
What are your projected outcomes? What are you trying to do for/with people?
What are your areas of focus going to be? (family, loss, trauma, career transition, community/church service, etc.)
How will these areas of focus be addressed, taught, treated?
How many weeks will the program lasts? You may decide that the program will take 2 weeks to address some issues while others may more or less.
Where will the classes be held?
How will it be funded?
How will you advertise for the program? (church newsletter, local new paper, Veteran Affairs hospital, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post)

As you can see this assignment has tremendous potential to be a powerful ministry to any church and community. I want to encourage you to give your best to this project as many students find themselves conducting these kinds of projects. God has a way of creating a passion for work we invest in.
Length of the paper: 10-12 pages. Points will be deducted if the paper is below 10 pages or exceeds 12 pages. (Including title page, abstract, and references.)
Your paper must include at least 10 references no older than 5 years old.
Follow APA format. Review the APA Grading Rubric for guidance regarding grading factors, and, for additional aid, research the Purdue Online Writing Lab at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/10/
The Proposal will be graded on thoroughness, content, and integration of Biblical perspective.

This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas: This analysis in this phase will help define the Key Assignment for this course. As your final task (Key Assignment), you will choose a topic in health care (e.g. cardiovascular issues, obesity, or cancer) and analyze it. Then, integrate all of the steps and standards that are needed to meet the quality improvement and performance regulations that are accredited by such organizations as The Joint Commission (TJC) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Therefore, your efforts in this matter should be thorough. At the request of the compliance manager, your department has been recommended for an internal audit. A quick review of your procedures shows deficiencies in your department’s way of collecting data. In an effort to get ready for the upcoming audit, you need to become familiar with the steps that are involved in preparing for an audit. Choose from the following 2 subjects, and then address all of requirements listed under it:      Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following questions:  Assignment 2 –  Weekly tasks or assignments (Individual or Group Projects) will be due by Monday, and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. 3) Individual Coursework Assignment 3
This assignment is worth 35% of the overall module mark.
Coursework Brief
For this coursework you are required to solve a problem using Microsoft Excel and/or SPSS. Your
solution should be word-processed, including the computer output (pasted in), and submitted
electronically.
Your solution should include both the output itself and a concise account of the methods you
have used. Where appropriate you should also explain the reasons you have chosen those
particular methods.
9
The Excel data set HEINZ, which you need to download from the Blackboard pages for this
module, contains information on a tasting experiment. 100 volunteers were asked to rate a Heinz
product and a Tescos own brand of the same product. A score from 1 to 10 was used in each
case (high values indicated the brand was liked). Equal scores for the two brands were allowed,
but the volunteers were also asked to indicate which brand they preferred, using 1s and 0s, with 1
indicating a preference for Heinz, and ties (equal preference) were not allowed. The gender of the
volunteer was also recorded (0=male, 1=female).
(i) Assuming these scores are representative of a population calculate a 95% confidence
interval for the population difference in means of the two ratings. Is the value zero in
this interval? Interpret this. 20 marks
(ii) Perform a suitable t-test to determine whether there is a significant difference between
the scores given to the two brands, and interpret the result carefully. 20 marks
(iii) Perform a suitable t-test to determine whether females rate Heinz significantly higher
than males. 20 marks
(iv) With the preferences (0s and 1s) calculate a 95% confidence interval for the true
proportion p of people who prefer Campbells soup to Brand R. Is the value 0.5 in this
interval? Interpret this. 20 marks
(v) Write a brief report discussing the merits of the two approaches (i) and (iv) (i.e. using
the differences of the scores, or using the preferences) are they both addressing the
same problem? If you are primarily interested in how much of each brand you are likely
to sell (and hence how much you should stock), which approach would you use, and
why? 20 marks
Key Marking criteria will include:
Accuracy of the numerical solutions
Appropriateness of the methodology
Clarity and conciseness of the descriptions of the methodology
Word Limit
The word limit for this individual assignment is 1000 words.
The School of Managements detailed word-limit policy, including the penalties relating to breaches
of the specified word limit, are incorporated into the electronic cover sheet for coursework
(available from the Assessment and Feedback folder on the Blackboard site for this module).

stress test on a group’s investment strategy in the Australian Stock Exchange

Project description
For my finance assignment, we have to implement an investment strategy ( find in attachment) on the Australian stock exchange:
http://www.asx.com.au/
The idea is as an investor you have 1 million pounds that you should invest in a 3 month period following the strategy attached and calculate the final return on investment for the investor. The investment period is 3 months and the strategy should be stress tested on three periods: a bear, neutral and bull market (analysis can be limited to 5 to 10 stocks/bonds). When the strategy doesn’t work, please note that it doesn’t and come up with a solution how to change the step so it could be implemented on the
please also send me the calculations and excel sheet to proof the strategy.
———-
Added on 03.05.2016 08:29
I attached the group strategy that has to be stress tested on three different periods (bull, neutral, and bear market). Please don\”t forget to send me the excel sheet with the calculations, please apply the whole strategy on the report for the Australian stock exchange, and see how high would be the return on the portfolio for each period. (for each period to know if it was a positive or negative return). The stress testing needs to be done on all 3 periods otherwise you cannot do a proper stress testing.
i have to criticise the strategy of this group, so don\”t forget to give me points where the strategy couldn\”t be applied on the australian market, and try to explain how to change the strategy so that it would work.
if any questions please let me know as soon as possible
note that it is an investment strategy what has to be tested on the real market with the 3 periods (bullish, bearish, neutral) that appeared in the australian stock exchange. please also add on in the report (its a report:stress testing report) some supporting graphs, datas you found for this australian stock exchange testing
